On 14th March 2018 a live streaming of two distinguished speakers, Professor Muhammad Yunus a Nobel Peace Prize winner (2006) and author of a book "The Three Zero" and Khun Meechai Viravaidya, a social enterprise innovator for over 40 years, who shared thoughts on sustainable business developments through working with youth and social enterprise startups.
C asean reinforces its leadership as Asean's center of network connectivity for all sectors by organising a C asean Sustainable Talk with the objective of disseminating sustainable development concepts including social enterprise model to help solve social problems through working with the new generations in the ASEAN region with the cooperation of Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, along with Meechai Viravidya, Thailand's social enterprise icon, Dr. Kobsak Phutrakul, Minister of the Office of the Prime Minister, Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation, Mr. Apichart Todilokvej, Director-General of the Department of Community Development,Khun Thapana Sirivadhabhakdi and other leading leading SET listed companies, educational institutions , representatives from NGO and government sectors to generate wider social awareness and drive on the concepts of social enterprise as sustainable social development.
Khun Vichate Tantiwanich, Chairman of C asean revealed that "C asean arises from seeing the opportunity to participate in regional development as a private organization with the aim of contributing to economic, social and cultural cooperation resulting in international links as well as linking the new generations in the ASEAN region to learn and exchange innovative ideas for sustainable development which is the underlying concept of the C asean Sustainable Development Talk event".
Khun Tongjai Thanachanan, direcor of C asean further commented that " the current trend of sustainable development and the adoption of social enterprise concepts to solve social problems through links with the new generations in the ASEAN region will generate wider awareness and learning achievement for the development of the country and regional sustainable social development. In addition, a television program competition "Win-Win-War" is to be launched as one of on-going activities to generate interest and encourage participation of the new generation on social enterprise startups to awaken the current awareness of sustainable social development.
Professor Muhammad Yunus said, "It's time for us to realise that social development has been affected by capitalism through social disparity, large unemployment and environmental destructions. In order for humanity and our planet to survive, we must have a new economic system that is based on a precise vision, true to the nature of humanity. Which is the generosity and kindness that is a powerful driving force equal to one's own interests. "
Khun Meechai Viravaidya said, "To create sustainability for national development and to reduce disparities, the new generation must have a consciousness of sharing for society and learning to ask questions with logical situational analytical thinking. I am very pleased that the concept of Social Enterprise or simply called the business of sharing, will be concretely pushed by C asean."
